Keystone

Keystone

A keystone is the central stone at the crown of the arch that is laid during construction. Just as the keystone holds the arch together, this leadership experience is the final piece for college students that will hold their college experiences together. Students will have the opportunity to reflect on their years in college and gather new insights as they prepare to venture beyond Appalachian.

Keystone is an 7 week leadership development program for graduating Seniors. We will meet on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 in the Mountain Laurel room of the Plemmons Student Union.

Fall 2008 SCHEDULE

Dates: Coming soon!

Topics:

Building an Arcade
Keystone participants will have the opportunity to get to know each other.

Celebrate Appalachian
Let's look back at our experience at ASU and make sense of them.

The Voussiors
An alum of ASU will come to discuss the principle elements of college life and post-college life and examine the differences.

The Mortar
Just as mortar holds the arch stones in place, so does language bond together our experiences. Participants will examine the language we use to shape meaning in our lives and create our personal narratives.

The Architect as a Leader
Participants will explore leadership as an essential skill for success.

The Foundation
Values are the foundation for ethical decision making and principle-centered learning. This session will focus on clarifying the personal values.

Financial Foundations
What "they never teach you in college", they teach you in Keystone: Planning your financial future.

Making Your Passage
Before participants pass through the arch, they will discuss
how to take all of this with them with confidence.
