THE MULTICULTURAL CENTER

Mission

The Multicultural Center at ASU is a cultural center that promotes the uniqueness of all ethnic cultures at Appalachian State University. The operation of the cultural center is directed through the Office of Multicultural Student Development in the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership. The Multicultural Center is committed to serving students, staff, faculty and the Boone community.

Programmatic Goals

The programmatic goals of the Multicultural Center are:

  • To support and enhance existing cultural programs

  • To provide a facility for smaller more "intimate" functions, such as small group discussions, lectures, brown bags, etc.

  • To foster an environment of tolerance, understanding and acceptance of different cultures

  • To encourage the appreciation of all cultures, particularly the Appalachian culture as it relates to different ethnic and cultural groups



The Center is located in room 112 of the Plemmons Student Union.
