Student Handbook

The Appalachian State University Handbook of Student Rights and Responsibilities

Welcome! The Appalachian State University online Student Handbook is intended to serve as a source of information on many services, activities, and policies of the University. Designed for use as a reminder to the returning student and a guide for the new student, the online Handbook is a compilation of University services, policies and procedures for easy reference.

While containing important information about the University, the online Handbook is not intended to be comprehensive in its listings. Instead, vital information is presented, and when necessary, the online Handbook will direct the student to appropriate University websites where complete information can be found.

In addition to website addresses which may be accessed by students through the Internet, the online Handbook will also provide location and phone number of the department or office where help is available. The online Handbook can help students find the answers to many questions concerning the University, so be sure to keep a hard copy in a convenient location.

Appalachian State University is an Affirmative Action Equal Opportunity employer. The University provides equal treatment and opportunity to all persons without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, veteran status or sexual orientation except where such distinction is required by law.

Appalachian State University publishes the online Student Handbook annually for the purpose of informing students of their rights and responsibilities and privileges on campus. The University accepts no custodial responsibility for any enrolled student or visitor to the campus. The online Handbook is intended for information purposes only and does not constitute a contract between the University and the student. While the online Handbook presents policies and programs as accurately as possible at the time of publication, the University reserves the right to revise any section or part without notice or obligation.

The online Student Handbook is funded from the Student Activity Fee.
